Books, Cats and Tea is the theme this month at ArtJournalJourney. I created a page on this topic. Since my art journal is almost full, I switched to a single page. I will later combine (bind) the individual sheets into a book. How? I don't know that at the moment.
First draw lines on the white sheet with water-soluble chalk, then let them run with water and watercolor. Then I glued newspaper scraps on. Then came the objects, cat, book and tea with oil pastels. I then applied acrylic paint. Last but not least was the text and some washi tape.
Advertising (unpaid, etc.): About three weeks ago I took part in an online weekend on the topic of journaling. Kasia Avery and her teachers have provided a variety of videos on the subject of journaling (Wanderlust 2024 - LIVE). Even though I already knew some things, there were two or three “courses” in which there were completely new things to discover. For example, two courses mainly painted with watercolor. I found this very exciting because up until now I had the feeling that art journaling mainly used acrylic paint. It was very motivating to be able to help shape the course. I only tried other techniques later. One tutorial I watched looked very easy, but when I tried the technique the next day, it didn't quite work out for me. I will probably use these leaves as a background later. They were very interesting experiences.
This is a great page Trillian. I like how you added the book, kitty and teacup. And I like that background too. Thank you for joining us for Elle's challenge . Hope your month is going well. hugs-Erika
AntwortenLöschenHi Trillian, love your page with all three elements on it - books, cats, and tea - are all I need too! About binding your journal, I often use individual pages, and then fold them and attach them to each other with masking tape. I've been doing it for years and the journals stay together. Hope that helps.
AntwortenLöschenI'm glad you enjoyed the Wanderlust LIVE weekend, it was good wasn't it? I use a lot of watercolour in my art journals, if you visit my site you will see many pages. You just have to be careful if you use other mediums on top of it so that it doesn't run, but there are many beautiful watercolour techniques to add to your journals. Thanks for joining me for the Books, Cats & Tea September theme at Art Journal Journey this month. Happy Journalling! Elle xx

What an amazing and colorful spread you have given us, Trillian. I LOVE how colorful and filled with joy this spread is. I like how you used words to fill the book and I love that you also added the tea cup and the adorable cat. This is a lovely art journal entry. It is also perfect for Elle's theme at AJJ, too.
